Car buyer's broker · Richmond, BC

A car buyer's broker for Richmond, where comparing stickers is easy and comparing deals is not.

Richmond makes one part of car buying simple: close to twenty franchised dealerships sit on a single site off Highway 99, so walking from one brand to the next takes minutes. What the walk does not show you is the rest of the deal, where two offers on the same vehicle stop matching. ClearCut Auto Inc. is a licensed, fee-only car buyer's broker: we source the vehicle, negotiate the price, and on the managed packages handle the finance office for you. Our founder spent nearly a decade inside BC dealerships, from the sales floor to the finance office, and we have no loyalty to any store.

A car buyer's broker represents the buyer, not the dealership. In British Columbia that is a licensed activity: the broker-agent works for the person buying the vehicle, sources and negotiates on their behalf, and takes no payment from the selling side.

ClearCut Auto Inc. holds VSA Broker-Agent Licence B70016 and is fee-only. You pay a flat fee, from $150 to $2,500 plus GST depending on the package; no dealership or lender pays ClearCut anything. The licence covers all of British Columbia, and the same flat fee applies at any store in the region.

Buying a car in Richmond

Why the easiest city to compare prices is not the easiest place to compare deals.

Four things about buying in Richmond that the walk between showrooms does not show you.

01 · The auto mall

Close to twenty stores in one place, and the rest of the region past the bridge.

The Richmond Auto Mall puts most of the city's franchised dealerships on one site off Highway 99, which makes cross-shopping brands easy. The same brands also have stores in Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey and Delta, each with its own inventory pressure and its own month to finish, and those are the stores a Richmond buyer rarely calls.

Walking the mall is not the same as shopping the region.
02 · The rest of the contract

When the price is easy to compare, the difference moves.

Two offers on the same vehicle can match on the windshield and land thousands apart over the term, in the rate, the length of it, the protection products and the fees. Those numbers are agreed in the finance office after the price is settled, usually in one sitting at the end of a long day. Our founder ran that office for years.

Compare the whole contract, not the price on the glass.
03 · The finance office, wherever it is

On the managed packages, we handle the dealership.

On ClearCut Negotiation and Concierge we handle sourcing, the purchase price, financing and every finance office product on your behalf, at whichever store the vehicle comes from. On Concierge the vehicle is delivered by the selling dealer, so you never need to set foot in the dealership. Strategy and Clarity are advisory, by phone, text or email, whichever suits you.

You never have to sit across from a salesperson. That is the point.
04 · The delivery

Concierge brings the vehicle to your door.

ClearCut Concierge is the fully managed package plus local delivery: sourced, negotiated, the finance office and paperwork handled, and the vehicle delivered from the selling dealer to you in Richmond upon completion of all paperwork and insurance arrangements. No showroom, no Saturday. You never need to set foot in the dealership.

Ask about Concierge on the call if you want the dealership out of the picture entirely.

Common questions

Buying with a broker in Richmond.

Do you come to the dealership with me in Richmond?

You do not need to be there for any of the negotiating. On ClearCut Negotiation and Concierge we deal with the dealership on your behalf: sourcing, the purchase price, financing approval and every finance office product, at whichever store the vehicle ends up coming from, so you never sit across from a salesperson. On Negotiation, your only responsibilities are arranging vehicle insurance and picking up the vehicle from the dealership. On Concierge, the vehicle is delivered by the selling dealer and you never need to set foot in the dealership. Strategy and Clarity are advisory packages delivered by phone, text or email, whichever suits you.

Do you only shop the Richmond Auto Mall?

No. The mall is convenient and often competitive, and it is one of several places we look. The vehicle comes from whichever store in the region has the right unit at the right all-in number, which is sometimes across a bridge. Where it is bought does not change where it is registered, insured or serviced.

Which areas do you cover?

Richmond, Steveston, Delta and Ladner on this page, and the rest of the Lower Mainland the same way. ClearCut Auto Inc. is based in South Surrey and licensed for all of British Columbia; on the managed packages the fee is the same flat fee wherever the store is.

What does a car buyer's broker cost?

A flat fee, from $150 to $2,500 plus GST depending on the package, paid through Stripe. ClearCut Auto Inc. receives nothing from any dealership or lender. The fee is for the representation, never for the vehicle itself.

Are you licensed?

Yes. ClearCut Auto Inc. holds VSA Broker-Agent Licence B70016 from the Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia and represents buyers only.

Do you work with new and used vehicles?

Both. The package decides the scope, not the vehicle. Every price in the free tools on this site is shown all-in for BC, with GST, PST and any federal luxury tax already applied.
